This will allow us to create a Rome GeneHub here in Castel Romano, a complex of highly specialized laboratories and infrastructures dedicated to applied pharmaceutical research and more specifically to the development of genetic vaccines, gene therapies and monoclonal antibodies.
This innovative hub will not only facilitate extensive studies related to the treatment of rare diseases and cancer but will also play a pivotal role in Epidemic Preparedness, simplifying the implementation of a national pandemic plan.
Over the years, we have nurtured a robust network, collaborating closely with various research organizations and companies in the Lazio Region along the whole production chain, from ideation to preclinical and clinical trials.
We are immensely proud of the exceptional skills and expertise we have managed to bring together across our local landscape. The Rome GeneHub infrastructures will represent an important element of innovation for Lazio region and for Italy, in the international competitive framework.
This will equip us with at least four crucial infrastructures:
A GMP facility for the preparation of nucleic acids (GMP);
A BSL-3 biomodule for testing against class 3 pathogens (BSL-3);
A specialized laboratory for the production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies (mAbLab);
An immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence laboratory (TissueLab).
